Day 9:
We have a short day today, about 12km and it’s sunny,
That’s the good news.
That’s the good news.
The bad news is the lady from our B&B for tonight was injured and
almost cancelled our night. 😱
As I have no phone connection, I asked Steve to call her.
Apparently the beds are made but there will be no breakfast.

Always better than nothing !
We left Sherston at 10am and made our first kilometre up the hill.
Sign left with the weaven industry found many times along our walk.
crossing infant river Avon
Just outside Luckington we met 2 very young girls on horses passing by.
This is a region where every farms have horses.
The houses are beautiful
The stone work around the window is stunning.
We came in the village threw little brook where the boys couldn’t resist a game of skipping stones.

We then found our way to the church with “gorges” around it.
Very particular.
Very particular.
This church was used in the tv series to film "Pride & Prejudice".
On our way out of the village Ed & Wil made me go up a hill in the field
to avoid a herd of cows !! Exhausting it was !!
Do they look like they care ?

The next part was mainly threw fields
which doesn’t see much walkers, in my opinion.
The grass was very high and the floor uneven.
I almost twisted my ankles many times.
Lunch time
We can perceive in the background a red brick kiln.
A kiln is a thermally insulated chamber, a type of oven, that produces temperatures sufficient to complete some process, such as hardening, drying, or chemical changes. Kilns have been used for millennia to turn objects made from clay into pottery, tiles and bricks.
We did look for this path.
Farmers are supposed to leave public path threw their field.
In that particular case we had to go round it and got lost in the process !
Passed the railway (Swindon-Bristol line) our gps played up a bit and
we couldn’t find our way round.
We also start to see corn in fields.

We almost reached Littleton Drew that we faced another herd of cows
which will not let us threw.
In fact we came in the field and they ran in our direction.
No need to tell you that my 2 companions legged it back to the gate !!
We had to walk up the next field of sweet corn,
with every leaves slapping my face. But we made it.

No Defibrillator here but books !
A break on a sunny afternoon.
We then walk under the noisy M4 motorway.
We have now been in contact with the lady of our B&B.
We are confirmed our night in her house but not before 5pm.
We are confirmed our night in her house but not before 5pm.
Apparently Goulter's Mill has a B&B.
It's a quirky house and has an exotic garden.
We would have walked a few meters further and
we would have found a better way threw !!
No instead we go threw a painful bath of stingers.
So we took a slight diversion threw Nettleton and
treated our self with ice creams.
When we were asked where we were aiming for and why,
the lady of the post office/grocery insisted
that I didn’t pay the ice creams and
that I donated the cost to our good cause. Very kind.

So all in all we walked 15 km today.
Géniales, ces photos! Et ah les vaches, elles vous auront fait courir! :)
